China will invest more crushers in Africa’s mining industry
Author:liming Post Date:2009-7-4
Zimbabwe, June 30 (Xinhua) Africa needs more Chinese investment in the mining industry, a senior COMESA official said on Saturday.
The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) secretary-general Sindiso Ngwenya told Xinhua in an exclusive interview that although Chinese companies had invested mainly in the services sector, Africa would want them to do more in the mining industry so that less wealth is exported abroad.
"regarding investment, for example in Zambia when other companies were closing the mines the Chinese companies have continued to operate because they are not there for the short term but they are there for a long term partnership that is mutually beneficial to all of us," he said.
Although many economist have warned that the impact of the global economic crisis could last for years. The Chinese enterprises are still increasing the investment in Africa to help the African away from poverty.
Even today, the african mining is characterised by small-scale mechanised mines and small-scale operations that include local entrepreneurs and artisans. Manual stone crushing was reducing productivity and harming the health of the labourers. Many experts have urged installing stone crusher machines in quarries to alleviate the misery of workers and increase productivity.
In February, 2009, on behalf of all the Chinese enterprises, Henan Liming Road & Bridge Heavy Industry Co., Ltd, dispatched some experts to africa for research. Now various of crushers and grinding mills which are suitable for the africans are produced and on their way to africa, such as Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Cameroon and South Africa.
“In order to ensure that the innovation benefits more people, all the governments of africa should provide financial support for widespread dissemination of the advanced crusher technology, “ Ngwenya stressed.
